I started taking an interest in photography at the young age of 10, taking my Polaroid cam and snapping everything that I found interesting. From then I moved on to a Minolta Maxxum 7000, it was my first SLR camera. I picked it at a pawnshop in the ruff part of town. I shot just about everything with the camera. I developed this deep passion for looking down the lens and snapping shots. Photography has just become a part of me ever since, from rolling and developing my own film, to countless hours in the darkroom. In high school I reached a point that no one had reached before; there were no more photo classes to take so I figured out a way to allow me to take another photo class if I was to develop the syllabus for the next class.
I attended many photo classes and many lectures since and have studied the camera inside and out. Experimenting with different ISO’s film brands and rolling my own film, understanding how the camera would react in every situation was my mission. I was out all night every night in search of the perfect picture.
Today I still have that same passion but with new technology, blessed to be working with the latest Phase One Medium format digital back camera, Canon bodies and L lenses, and lighting by Profoto. I still shoot film in my leisure, it’s something that is calming to me and keeps me grounded.
